KAGERO from left to right: Takayuki Suzuki (drums), Yu Shiromizu (bass), Ryu Sasaki (sax), Chieko Kikuchi (piano)

KAGERO play original fast and furious instrumental No-Jazz but Punk Rock. Incredible music filled with Jazz quality but with a rebellious, aggressive attitude and sound texture that is Punk Rock every inch. Extremely danceable tunes, vigorous rhythms, genius melodies and freaky interplay are unleashed when bassist Yu Shiromizu, saxophonist Ryu Sasaki, drummer Takayuki Suzuki and pianist Chieko Kikuchi hit the stage and thrill the audience with their infectious live performance.
Each and every concert of KAGERO is one of a kind, full of improvisation and natural impulsiveness. When the drum rhythm cuts in hard, the base swells, the piano runs wild and the saxophone jumps up and down, everybody has to dance. Their music’s energy just knocks you out in a second.
KAGERO was born in 2005 when Ryu, Takayuki and Yu, back then a bunch of friends from university, started to jam together. Later pianist Chieko joined the band and completed the current sound quality. KAGERO immediately hit home in Tokyo’s underground music scene.Between 2005 and 2007 KAGERO released the CDs Scorpion’s love session, Strawberry Shake and Club Tequila under their own label Sweet Whisky Records. In 2006 they were invited to perform as a regular act in Tokyo’s hot live club Star Pine’s Café. During the next 2 years they played there once a month, widening sure and steady their fan base.
The limited Village Vanguard (Japan) long run hit single Official Bootleg was released in July 2009, followed by a remix of Too Nasty by the Hip Hop band ArtOfficial. The year 2009 also marked a highlight in KAGERO’s music career with the release of their first official album with the title Kagero in December and their participation in the 10th anniversary tribute album Not Jazz!! But Pe’z together with Japanese and international bands one month earlier. Highly acclaimed by the press and audience KAGERO’s unique Jazz Punk sound was finally acknowledged.
In September 2010 KAGERO squeezed famous movie themes through their No-Jazz but Punk filter, dismantled and restructured them. The result was the cover album Screen, an exciting sound adventure in the typical KAGERO style. While their music marked a trend and let expectations grow, the band released their third album Kagero II in December of the same year. The sound of the new album is the consequent evolution towards even more sophisticated, fiercer and speedier tunes.
In Spring 2011 KAGERO published the live singles Painkiller and Gas which will also be released as part of their forth album by the end of the year.
